How to change your caller ID name on Verizon

When you make a call, your caller ID name is what appears on the other person’s phone. If you’re a Verizon customer, you can change the name displayed with your number—but only in certain situations.

Here’s how caller ID works on Verizon and how to update your display name.

How Verizon caller ID works

  • Wireless caller ID: By default, Verizon displays the name tied to your account (for example, the account owner’s first and last name).
  • Incoming calls: You can see the caller’s name if the number is saved in your contacts or if you use services like Verizon Call Filter with enhanced caller ID.
  • Outgoing calls: The name others see depends on your Verizon account settings and whether their carrier supports CNAM (caller name) lookup.
