If you are setting up the device manually, here is our step-by-step guide on how to configure a new Samsung business tablet to ensure your company data stays secure.

How long does it take to set up a new Samsung business tablet?
Most individual setups take 10–20 minutes. Transferring a large amount of data using Samsung Smart Switch™ can take a bit longer depending on your company Wi-Fi speed or cable connection. If you run into roadblocks, Verizon Business Complete gives you access to tech experts who can help troubleshoot setups instantly.
Use Smart Switch for a seamless transfer
If an employee is upgrading from an older company tablet to a new Samsung Galaxy tablet, the built-in Smart Switch feature makes it easy to transfer all the apps, contacts, files, and settings automatically during the initial setup.
Follow these steps on how to set up a Samsung tablet from an old tablet using Smart Switch:
- Turn on the new Samsung tablet, and tap Start on the welcome screen.
- Review and agree to the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy.
- Select your secure company Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and tap Connect.
- When the Copy apps & data screen appears, tap Next to initiate Smart Switch.
- Choose your old device source (Galaxy/Android), and select either Cable or Wireless.
- Open the Smart Switch app on the old tablet, and tap Send data.
- On the new tablet, tap Receive data, and follow the on-screen prompts to connect the two devices.
- Select the business files, apps, and accounts you want to move over, and tap Transfer.
- Keep the devices close together (or plugged in) until the transfer process is complete.
Configure your Samsung tablet without transferring data
If you are setting up a tablet for a new employee and want to start fresh without an old device to transfer from, follow these manual setup steps:
- Turn on the new Samsung tablet, tap Start, and agree to the initial terms and conditions.
- Select your secure company Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and tap Connect.
- When you reach the Copy apps & data screen, tap Don't copy.
- When prompted, sign in with the employee's work Google Account™ credentials.
- Review the Google services and location settings, and tap Accept.
- Choose a screen lock type, and set up a secure PIN, password, or biometrics like
- Fingerprint or Face Recognition to protect company data.
- Sign in to your company's Samsung Account if you use one, or tap Skip.
- Follow the remaining on-screen prompts to finalize your display preferences, and tap Finish.
Finalize your tablet features and security
There are additional settings you can adjust after the initial setup. Set up your company email through the Gmail or Outlook app, and review the battery-saving settings to ensure the tablet lasts through long workdays.
Pro Tip: Samsung devices are secured by Samsung Knox, which works seamlessly with Verizon Mobile Device Management (MDM). If your device is enrolled in Verizon Business Complete, this is the perfect time to ensure your MDM profiles are active so you can securely manage the device from your administrative dashboard.
