Why your Keurig won't connect to Wi-Fi and how to fix it

⚡ Fast fix

  • Stick with 2.4 GHz: Smart Keurig brewers won't connect to most 5 GHz networks.
  • Bluetooth does the matchmaking: Turn it on before pairing your brewer with the Keurig app.
  • Give your brewer a coffee break: Unplug it for 10–15 minutes to clear temporary Wi-Fi hiccups.
  • Outdated apps cause headaches: Update the Keurig app before diving into more complicated fixes.

Keurig® didn’t stop at making coffee easier to brew with convenient K-Cups®. Now, many Keurig machines are smart devices that connect to the internet to elevate your coffee-brewing experience even further.

Connecting your smart Keurig machine to Wi-Fi means you can use convenient features like SMART Delivery when you need more pods and BrewID® to recognize your K-Cup pod and customize your brew settings. If your Keurig is not connected to Wi-Fi, you can still use it to brew coffee, but the features are more limited.

Asurion Experts study smart home appliances so we can help you make the most out of all the features. Explore these common reasons why your Keurig smart appliance is not connecting to Wi-Fi to get back to brewing your coffee in no time.

Make sure your network is compatible

Many home Wi-Fi networks now include two bands: a 5 GHz band and a 2.4 GHz band. While 5 GHz offers faster speeds, it also has a smaller range than the 2.4 GHz band.

You'll need to be sure you’re connected to the right bandwidth for your devices to function properly. Typically, your smart Keurig requires connecting to the 2.4 GHz band because of the better range and more stable connection. If you try to connect to the 5 GHz band instead, you may encounter problems in the Keurig Wi-Fi setup process.

While you’re setting up your Keurig and connecting to your Wi-Fi network, choose the option that is simply the name of your network without 5G attached. That's how you know it's the 2.4 GHz band—not the 5 GHz band. If you’re not sure what your Wi-Fi network’s name is, you can check for a sticker on your router. It may also help to have your phone connected to the 2.4GHz band, so your Keurig app and Keurig machine are using the same Wi-Fi network during the setup process.

If you're still having issues connecting to the 2.4GHz band, you can dig deeper into your router settings to make sure it’s not automatically directing devices to specific Wi-Fi bands. To do this, log in with your router's IP address on your preferred web browser with the administrator username and password to view and edit settings.

Fix pairing problems between your brewer and the Keurig app

When you’re setting up your Keurig’s Wi-Fi connection, you'll need your smartphone with the Keurig app. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Open the Keurig app and create an account or sign in.
  3. Press the Right Arrow on your Keurig machine to connect when prompted.
  4. Press Link in the Keurig app to connect the brewer to your phone.
  5. You’ll get a pop-up notification to join a Keurig Wi-Fi network. Click Join.
  6. Choose the 2.4 GHz band of your Wi-Fi network from the dropdown menu in the Keurig app.
  7. Enter your Wi-Fi password and press OK.

You should get a message that the connection was successful after completing these steps. If you get a message that the Keurig app pairing failed, try these tips:

  • Make sure that you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone and that the Keurig app has Bluetooth permissions.
  • Turn off your VPN.
  • Update your phone’s operating system and the app, if updates are available.
  • Double-check that you selected the 2.4 GHz band, not the 5 GHz band.

Reset your brewer and reconnect it to Wi-Fi

A reset may help when your Keurig SMART Brewer is not connecting to Wi-Fi. Try these steps.

  1. Turn off your brewer and unplug it.
  2. Wait 10 to 15 minutes with the brewer unplugged to give the internal computer time to reset.
  3. Plug the brewer back in and press the power button.
  4. Try the connection process again.

Quick resets like these can clear small bugs or other issues preventing a strong connection. If the Keurig SMART Coffee Maker is still not connecting to Wi-Fi after the power cycle reset, try a factory reset. A factory reset will clear all your settings so it’s back to how it was when you first got it.

FAQ

Why won't my Keurig connect to Wi-Fi?

The most common causes are connecting to the 5 GHz band instead of 2.4 GHz, outdated app software, Bluetooth permission issues, or temporary problems with your router or brewer.

Does every Keurig support Wi-Fi?

No. Only Keurig SMART brewers with built-in Wi-Fi support connected features like BrewID® and SMART Delivery.

Why does my Keurig keep failing during setup?

Make sure your phone and brewer are on the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth is enabled, your VPN is turned off, and both your phone and the Keurig app are fully up to date.

How do I reset my Keurig Wi-Fi connection?

Unplug the brewer for 10–15 minutes, plug it back in, and go through the Wi-Fi setup process again. If that doesn't work, perform a factory reset and reconnect the brewer.
