Use *67 to hide your caller ID

Are you wondering, “how do you private call someone?” Here’s the simplest way:

  1. Dial *67 on your keypad before typing in the area code and phone number.
  2. Your number will show up on the phone you’re calling as “Private” or “Blocked.”

Note: this only works for a single outgoing call.

Hide your number using Android settings

It may vary by carrier or device model, but you probably have the option to hide your caller ID when making calls on your Android by turning on the built-in Hide number feature. Try this:

  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Open Settings > Supplementary services or Calls
  3. Under Caller ID, select Hide number or Never
  4. Your number will be hidden for all outgoing calls. To display your number for a specific call, type in *82 before you dial.

Hide your caller ID through your carrier

If simpler methods don’t work, your mobile carrier can help with how to block your number on Android for outgoing calls. Your carrier may offer an app or talk you through the process by phone or chat.
