How to easily use your iPhone or Android as a webcam

Using your iPhone as a webcam

You’ll need to download a webcam app to use your mobile device as a webcam with your laptop.

For Windows PCs:

  1. Download and install the EpocCam app on your iPhone and the driver on your PC. 
  2. Connect your iPhone to your PC via USB or Wi-Fi. 
  3. Select EpocCam as your video source in your video conferencing or streaming app.

For macOS:

  1. Install the Camo app on both your iPhone and Mac.
  2. Open the app and connect your devices via USB or Wi-Fi. 
  3. Choose Camo as your video input in your preferred app.

Note: Make sure your iPhone and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for wireless setup.

Using your Android phone as a webcam

For Windows, macOS, and Linux:

  1. Get the DroidCam app on your Android phone and the client software on your computer. 
  2. Connect your phone and PC using a USB cable or Wi-Fi. 
  3. Open the DroidCam client on your computer and select your phone. 
  4. Choose DroidCam as your webcam in your video app.

Tip: For best results, use a stable tripod or phone stand to keep your smartphone steady during use.

Setting up your phone webcam in popular apps

  • In Zoom, click Settings > Video > Camera and select your phone as the camera input. 
  • For Discord, go to Settings > Voice & Video > Video Settings and choose your phone as the video device.
