Resetting Google Assistant on an Android device

Use this reset method if you're experiencing issues with Google Assistant on your Androidâ„¢ phone or tablet.

  1. Go to your Android device's Settings > Apps > Google Home app > Storage & cache. 
  2. Tap Clear cache and Clear storage, then restart your device.

Clearing data will sign you out of Google Assistant, so you'll need to sign in again after resetting.

Resetting Google Assistant on Google Home

If your Google Home smart speaker isn't responding properly, try restarting the device to reset Google Assistant.

  1. Unplug your Google Home from the power outlet.
  2. Wait for 1 minute.
  3. Plug the device back in.
  4. Wait for the device to fully restart (the lights will stop spinning).
  5. Try issuing a command to Google Assistant to test it.
