How to pair your Xfinity remote to your TV (with or without a code)

💡 Need to know

  • No code needed (usually): Most Xfinity remotes can pair automatically using on-screen setup.
  • Manual backup: If that fails, you can enter a code for your TV brand.
  • Don’t skip the model check: Pairing steps vary depending on whether you have XR11, XR15, or XR16.

With an Xfinity® TV and streaming plan, you can watch your favorite cable channels, stream football games, and access streaming services. Better yet, your new plan may include a Xfinity remote to manage your TV and cable box from one device. But if you're new to the service, you may wonder how to pair a Xfinity remote to your TV.

Asurion Experts help you get the most from your favorite devices. Whether you need a guide to streaming or want to cast a smartphone to your TV, count on us for answers you can trust. Here's how to pair an Xfinity remote with your TV.

Identify your Xfinity remote model

Xfinity manufactures several remotes to use with its streaming service. Since exact pairing requirements can vary across models, you'll want to identify the specific remote you have to ensure the best streaming quality and a working connection.

Xfinity remotes may display the model number on the back. If you don't see it there, remove the battery cover and batteries. You'll find details about your remote model printed on the plastic or an interior sticker.

Pair your remote using on-screen or manual setup

There are two main ways to pair an Xfinity remote with your TV: through the on-screen pairing process or via manual code entry. On-screen pairing is the simpler option, so start there first.

If on-screen pairing fails to connect your TV to the remote, try using a manual code or auto-search setup. This process uses your TV brand to sync your devices.
