How to reset your Blink cameras

Blink™ security cameras allow you to keep a close eye on your home, even when you're away. But if your Blink camera isn't working as it should, resetting it may clear out any bugs or connectivity issues.

How to factory reset a Blink camera

Each Blink product—from indoor cameras to Minis—has a small button for reset purposes. Follow the below steps to reset your Blink camera based on its type. 

Resetting Blink indoor and outdoor cameras

You'll find the reset button for Blink indoor and outdoor cameras in the interior of the battery compartment.

  1. Remove the back of the camera to access the battery compartment.
  2. Look for a small, circular button next to the right-hand battery.
  3. Press the circular button for several seconds.
  4. Wait for the camera's front light to start blinking. 
  5. After the light stops blinking, you can make adjustments to its settings in the Blink app. 

Resetting the Blink doorbell camera

Blink doorbell cameras have a reset button accessible through the back compartment.

  1. Open the back of the doorbell camera.
  2. Look for the grey, circular button toward the top of the camera. 
  3. Press the button until the front lights start blinking.
  4. The device resets after the lights stop blinking. 

Resetting the Blink Mini camera

The Blink Mini's reset button is on the camera's bottom side.

  1. Turn the camera upside down and look for a small, round, indented button underneath the camera.
  2. Use a paperclip or pointy pen to press the reset button for at least five seconds. A solid red light may appear on the front of the device.
  3. Once the camera's front blue light starts blinking slowly, you can add it to your system. 

How to reset using the sync module

You may want to reset the sync module if it's offline. Here's how to do so based on your product type.

Sync module 2/XR

  1. Look for the reset button on the back of the device.
  2. Press the reset button for at least five seconds. 
  3. A solid red light appears, followed by a blue and green blinking light. The blue and green lights indicate a successful reset.  

Sync module 1st Gen

  1. Find the indented reset button on the side of the device, next to the USB port.
  2. Use a paperclip or toothpick to press the reset button until it clicks. 

What to do after resetting your Blink camera

After resetting the Blink cameras or sync module, you may reconnect the devices to the Blink app and reconfigure settings. 

Reconnecting to the Blink app

Start by adding your devices to the Blink app.

  1. Open the Blink app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  2. Tap Add device to reconnect the camera or sync module. 
  3. Follow the prompts to finalize the connection. You may need to scan each device's QR code or enter their serial numbers. 

Reconfiguring camera settings

You can adjust your camera's settings within the Blink app. There are options to create activity zones, enable audio recording, set video recording type, and more. Follow these steps to access the settings menu.

  1. Select the camera you want to configure.
  2. Tap the More icon with three dots.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap the setting you want to adjust. Follow the on-screen prompts to save your changes.

Repeat the steps for each Blink camera. Once finished, close the Blink app.
