How to reset your ASUS Flip tablet

Asurion Experts have the know-how to help our customers get the most out of their tech, from troubleshooting fast-draining batteries to protecting devices from security threats. Here’s how to reset your ASUS Flip tablet and get it running smoothly again.
Why would you need to factory reset your ASUS Flip tablet?
Whether you're troubleshooting performance issues or preparing to sell your device, resetting your ASUS Flip can help restore it to peak condition.
- A factory reset can eliminate corrupted files and drivers that cause persistent issues such as unexpected shutdowns or system freezes.
- If your device has malware or a virus, a factory reset can remove it so you can safely use the tablet again.
- If you've decided to gift or sell your ASUS Flip to someone else, a factory reset deletes your settings and restores the device to its original state.
You can try a factory reset at any time, but make sure to back up your tablet's data beforehand. That way, you won't lose critical files.
How to factory reset an ASUS tablet using the Settings menu
If your Flip tablet is running on Windows® 11, follow these steps to restore it to factory settings.
- Open the Start menu and click on Settings.
- Pick System from the available list on the left-hand side.
- Select the Recovery menu, then click the Reset PC button.
You'll have an option to save or remove all existing files on the device. If you delete your files, save any documents you need before initiating the reset. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the process.
How to reset an ASUS Flip tablet using button combinations
If you can't access the Start menu, try using buttons to hard reset the ASUS Flip laptop.
- Press the Windows and I keys at the same time.
- Click the System menu > Recovery.
- Click the Reset PC button.
- Follow the prompts to keep or delete files saved on the tablet.
- Wait for the reset process to finish.
How to reset an ASUS tablet when it's locked or unresponsive
It's possible to perform an ASUS tablet hard reset even if you can't access Windows or the desktop. Here’s how:
- Confirm the ASUS device is powered off.
- Press the F9 key, then press the Power button to turn on the tablet.
- Release the F9 key when the tablet enters the Windows Recovery Environment.
- Click Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Follow the prompts to remove your files or fully clean the drive.
- Click Reset to allow the process to complete.
Some ASUS devices respond to the F12 key instead of the F9. If your device doesn't enter the Windows Recovery Environment using F9, try again by combining F12 and the Power button.

What happens after a factory reset?
A factory reset deletes the existing files on your ASUS Flip tablet and reinstalls Windows. If you opted to save your files before the reset, they should still be accessible.
Since the factory reset returns the ASUS device to its original settings, plan to create a new Windows account. You'll also reconnect the Flip laptop to Wi-Fi using the network's password.
Initial setup process after the reset
A factory reset reinstalls the Microsoft® Windows operating system version that came with your ASUS Flip tablet. Start the setup process by updating Windows to its most current version.
- Click Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Click Check for Windows Updates.
- Select Download & Install for any available updates that appear.
- Repeat this process until there are no further Windows updates to install. Your device may restart several times as it installs updates.
After the Windows updates finish, reinstall any other apps or software you regularly use.
Restoring data from backups or Google account
If you saved documents to a USB drive or other external device, transfer them back to your ASUS Flip tablet. To do so, insert the drive into your device and copy the selected files to a drive on the tablet.
Users with documents saved on cloud storage servers like Google Drive™ may log into their accounts to access their files. You can also download documents if you'd like a local copy on the ASUS Flip tablet.
