Reduce the volume

If your headset volume is too loud, the mic might pick up the sound and cause an echo. Turn down the volume on your headset if they have volume controls. You can also adjust the headset’s volume through your console by pressing the PS button > Sound > Volume and moving the slider.

Adjust the mic level

Adjusting your console’s microphone level can help reduce or eliminate echo. If it’s set too high, then it will cause an echo.

  1. Press the PS button.
  2. Select Mic > Adjust Mic Level > Microphone level for Controller Headset. Use the microphone level slider to adjust the sound level until the input is optimal without picking up background noise.

Change the output device settings

Echo can also stem from incorrect output device settings. Go to Settings > Sound > Audio Output and ensure the output device is your headset.

Update your PS5 software

Keeping your system and accessories updated is crucial. It ensures you have the latest fixes and improvements. Follow these steps to get your PlayStation up-to-date:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select System > System Software.
  3. Choose System Software Update and follow the on-screen prompts to install any updates.

Try a different headset

PS5 microphone still not working? Consider testing another pair of headphones or a different headset to determine if the issue is with your current headset.
