How to find your IMEI number
Fast fix

- The 15-digit IMEI number should appear on your screen.
Every mobile phone comes with a unique, 15-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number that’s permanently connected to your device. Think of it as your phone’s fingerprint. But how do you find it? We’ll show you.
At Asurion, we help people with their daily tech needs, whether you want to activate an eSIM on your iPhone or find your lost Android™ phone. Here’s our guide on how to find your IMEI number.
Why would you need to find your IMEI number?
Here are some reasons you’d need to know your IMEI number:
Security. Asurion Experts report that 4 million phones were lost or stolen in 2023—that’s almost 11,000 phones every day. If you lose your phone or it’s stolen, knowing and reporting the IMEI number to your carrier can help protect your device by blocking access to itsmobile network. That way, thieves can’t use it.
Buying and selling. If you buy a used phone, you’ll want to check the IMEI number on the device to make sure the device isn’t stolen. Expect buyers to do the same if they buy from you.
Device support. When you need technical support, sharing your IMEI with tech experts gives them more detailed information about your device while troubleshooting.
Claims and warranties. You’ll need the IMEI for your device to file claims or check warranty status. When you send in your device for repair, the IMEI provided in the claim must match the IMEI of the device being repaired to be covered.
