Key AI innovations in the Galaxy S24

The S24 series, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, features new, advanced capabilities. Due to a March 2024 update, you can get these same features on the S23, S22, and Z Fold series. Worth noting is that you will only access these features free of charge until the end of 2025, and availability is currently only in selected regions and countries.

Circle to Search

Have you ever seen something while scrolling that you wanted to learn more about, but you only have a picture of it? With the Circle to Search feature, a picture is all you need. Just long press the Home button and draw a circle around the search subject on your screen using your S-pen or finger. When you finish drawing, the Galaxy S24 will begin the web search and display the results on your screen. At the moment, the search results displayed are only from Google.

Live Translate

Going on an international trip but worried about the language barrier? With Samsung Galaxy AI in your pocket, you can relax. The Live Translate feature gives you real-time translations for phone calls and text messages. It's built into the user interface (UI) and is available through the keyboard and on call. For instance, if you’re making a call, the Live Translate button will appear on the screen, so if you need it to translate your call, you can just tap it. When Samsung translates the speech on the other end, the feature will repeat the speech in your chosen language. With this feature, you don't have to leave the app you're using to get translations.

Advanced camera capabilities

If you're a photo or video enthusiast, you'll thoroughly enjoy the new AI-enhanced features of the Samsung Galaxy S24. With 8K video recording and Instant Slow-mo, prepare to get cinema-quality footage from your phone.

Want to zoom in on an object that's far off without losing the photo or video quality? Galaxy AI leverages advanced digital zoom technology to give you sharp, detailed images, even at 5x zoom. And you won't have to worry about bad lighting ruining the moment. The low-light performance of Galaxy AI enhances the brightness and reduces noise, so you can get crisp pictures and videos no matter the conditions.

Generative edit

Even with great lighting, there are a few things you will always need to tweak in a picture, like graffiti or a photobomber. The Generative Edit feature combines editing capabilities similar to Generative Fill and Magic Eraser from Adobe®, so you can do all these things without a trace of the original element.

Transcript assist

This feature lets you quickly turn your voice memos into text, translate them, and even summarize the transcriptions.

Summarize webpages

This AI summarization feature provides a shortened version of text from webpages in easy-to-read bullet points.

Chat assist

This feature is a blanket term for four new features on the Galaxy AI’s text apps like emails, Messages, and social media. The features are:

• Chat translation: Translates foreign language in your messages to your preferred language. This feature packs amazing AI features, such as PDF Overlay Translation. You no longer need to take pictures of your PDF document and upload them to the Translate app. With PDF Overlay Translation, you get translations right from the app you're on.
• Writing style: Helps you create the right message for the situation in terms of tone.
• Composer: Create messages based on the ideas you provide.
• Spelling and grammar: Remove errors in your messages before you send them.

NOTE: Even though Samsung says it doesn't use this data to train AI models, you have the discretion to opt in or out. You can limit data processing to device processing only from your device Settings. There, find Advanced Features and select Advanced Intelligence. Turn on Process data only on device.
