How to seamlessly connect your baby monitor to Amazon Echo

Amazon Echo connected to baby monitor

Integrating your baby monitor with Amazon Echo® can simplify parenting, allowing you to stay tuned into your little one's needs while you’re doing the laundry or watching TV. It can also provide a more secure option for caretakers, allowing them to ensure your baby sleeps soundly in your house without you sharing your personal login information. It's also a pro move for less tech-savvy grandparents who may struggle with using a phone app instead of a traditional monitor.

At Asurion, we help millions of people with their tech—and we get a lot of questions about keeping kids safe, especially online. We've seen it all and we're here to help. Here's your guide to connecting your baby monitor to your Amazon Echo.

Understanding compatibility

It's important to make sure your baby monitor is compatible with Amazon Echo devices before you start. Most Wi-Fi enabled baby monitors designed for smart home integration should connect smoothly. Look for Alexa compatibility in your baby monitor's features or the "Works with Alexa" badge in product descriptions. Nanit®, Nooie®, and Kasa® are a few well-known, compatible brands.

Connect your baby monitor to your Amazon Echo

It only takes a few steps to connect your two devices. Here's how to do it:

  1. Connect your baby monitor and Echo® device to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Turn on the baby monitor skill in Alexa. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device, tap Skills & Games, search for your baby monitor's brand skill, and turn it on. You may need to sign in to your baby monitor's account to link it to Alexa.
  3. After enabling the skill, either ask Alexa to discover devices or add the baby monitor manually via the Alexa app. This lets your Echo device find and connect with the baby monitor. After discovery, you can name your monitor (e.g., nursery monitor or your child's name) to simplify voice commands.
  4. Once connected, you can use your voice to check on your baby. If you own an Echo Show®, say, "Alexa, show me Liam" to view a live feed of the baby's crib, making it easy to check in without ever opening an app.
